CapitalOne
was negligent in issuing this credit card based on flimsy
personal information submitted by the thief. The thief only had
to provide my DOB and SSN.
CapitalOne
was negligent in their failure to conduct a proper investigation
of the ID theft. When I contacted
CapitalOne
and made them aware of the ID theft they should have immediately
initiated an investigation and that is according to
CapitalOne

Instead
CapitalOne
garnished my pay.
CapitalOne
attacked me and refused to tell me what kind of information I
could provide in order to assist in the investigation.
I was forced to try to resolve this issue

Both

fraud operations and collections departments ignored my request
for information and assistance. They ignored the evidence I
submitted proving I was not in Detroit, Michigan during this
time.
CapitalOne
chose not to take a report or initiate an investigation into my
ID theft claim. In
CapitalOne
zeal to increase the number of card holders,
CapitalOne
failed to properly verify the personal information being
submitted and failed to request enough personal information in
order to sufficiently verify identity.
CapitalOne
chose to ignore my request to remove my name from this account
and from the judgment until finally a ruling was issued in my
favor by the 36th District Court. I was prepared to present a
mountain of evidence to prove my case, but the lawyer for
CapitalOne
agreed the card was the result of ID theft before the trial
began. The lawyer was dead set against me receiving anything
other than the money

fraudulently garnished from my pay, but
the judge thought otherwise and awarded me
the out of pocket expenses.

I even went to my bank where the bank manager called them to verify that the funds had been electronically transferred to them and offered to fax them whatever documentation they required. After 41/2 hrs we got no where. Of course this triggered the over limit fee cycle. Then I was charged an annual fee that I'd never been charged before. I became out of work, and couldn't afford anything. I was selling my furniture to pay my bills. It is highly insulting to get phone calls from India, when Americans have no work. They call every 15 minutes from 8AM to 9PM every day. I can't even seek employment because if you have bad credit, no one will hire you, plus the phone is always busy with these people. I would love to find a class action that will restore the credit that was stolen from us. My son says it is harassment, and there is some law that says they can't do this to me. Anyone know anything? By the way, I have been a faithful customer for 15 yrs. |

They fail to send me copies and adequately validate the debt. THe cards had a balance of $350 each. The show the high balance as 673 on one & 973 the other (falsely assumed through hidden fees). Then they continue to increment fees om the card which are now at 1468, and 2079 respectively. This company is a predatory lender. I have sent them certified mailing asking them to correct the information. They refuse, and continue to add more fees and verify as valid with Experian and Transunion. |

It saves a lot of heartache in the end. Just for your information, however, people are always surprised to find out that the credit card companies in Canada have no 'late fees'. If you miss a payment, you're already paying outlandish interest. Since it seems that late fees are a large part of the issue, why not go to the FRB with complaints about that, aimed at all of the cards? Just a thought. Good luck to all of you |

CapitalOne
credit card. I paid each month like I was suppose to and all of the
sudden they increased my credit line. I did have 3 different cards
but I cancelled one of them. Well for several years I have paid on
these cards but it seem to never decrease. (balances) Finally the
economy has caused work to slow here for us (I went from 52 hours a
week to a measely 36 hours per week) with 2 children and single
thats a real big drop. I had to make a decision to stop paying
something and it was my credit cards. I did contact
CapitalOne
and told them but they kept giving me a bunch of bullsh** answers
and comments. after being treated like dirt for several minutes I
asked for a supervisor or manager and to my surprise (NOT) they
didn't have one available but would get one of their managers to
call me back later. Of course no one called me. Well that was 2007
and I haven't heard anything from them since until today. (with the
exceptions of a couple of letters saying I was behind and they would
be force to turn accounts over to collections. Well now they
have...and I received a summons by the superior court to answer to
this complaint. I called the attorney number on the summons and it
went to a collection dept. of capital one. I did talk to them and
the bit** they spoke with me was so freakin' rude. I ask her about
the whole thing and she said I had to pay the balance in full now or
go to court. I told her I was considering bankruptcy and she said
do what you want but it will be to late we will have already filed
this as a judgment on ME? She mentioned a hardship case and I ask
her for more info and she got really nasty with me she started
asking me for my full name, my address and my social security number
I gave it all to her and then she ask me for my employment
information finally I said its the same as it was when I opened the
account. she then said since I was refusing the hardship plan there
was nothing else she could do. I said wait I didn't refuse anything
but what does my employment have to do with the hardship program and
she got even worse and said that she needed that to see if I qualify
for the program. I first told her I did not like to give that info
over the phone and that it should still be on my original
application. she was terribly mad and when I again ask for a brief
description of the program she said you pay in set monthly payments
to us and again said give me your employment information and I will
see if you qualify. I didn't respond for a second and then ask her
if that would rid the summons and or judgment she said just think
this over and call me back tomorrow. She said she would be in at
8:00am and offered her number. I told her it wasn't then original
number I had called and she said no I will give you my direct number
well I took it and she said her name was Ms.Kelly I ask
what time she leaves in the evening she got awfully nasty and said
"NORMALLY AT 4:45" and to no surprise I looked at the time and it
was 4:46PM. I still haven't resolved anything but my limit went up
to 1075.31 plus 393.16 for interest and attorney fees and court
cost. My limit was 500.00 so what the heck??? Help I have only 30
days to respond and don't know what to do. I did contact them about
all of this a year ago and they were jerks about all this and just
kept giving me invalid answers and I never received anything from
their supervisors. HELP??!! Oh I have no documentation of the
conversation I had with them or really anything else to show as
proof. What do I do??? Oh sorry but one more thing the so called
attorney name was MANN BRACKEN LLC ATTORNEYS AT LAW OUT OF ATLANTA,
Ga. THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR THE HELP. Karen, mostly happening if u call in the nighttime, those 'customer services' are answering u from India!! Whatever they do is to guarantee that your charges and fees will be added into 3 more days. U can figure it out from their accents. For awhile I was paying with a money order and would send my payment in weeks early. They would charge me a late fee, which I argued and at first they removed it. Then in another month after I was charged a late fee and then on my statement the payment was shown to be posted weeks earlier. The the month after that, I was on the phone with them again with the same matter and they said they would not remove the late fee because they had done so the month before (even though the month before was clearly their mistake.) Since, I have been charge late fees and recently was charged an over the limit fee twice in the same month based on their late fees. Unbelievable. I have a limited balance because I have been trying to build up my credit and in my opinion, CapitalOne knows that because of my past poor credit, it would be easy to blame me. Recently when I told them that my lawyer actually wrote and sent the check in, they were more than happy to remove the current month's late charges. They also don't allow you to pay in advance. If you pay $100.00 when you only owe a $20.00 payment, they do not apply the remaining amount to the next month. |

In July 2007 I called CapitalOne explained to a lady named linda she told me CapitalOne has a hard ship program she said I had to come up with 138.00 and call it in on Monday she said there charge by phone would be waived for third payment because I was to tell who I spoke to I was being put on the hardship program after I make this payment there would not be another payment until end of oct. they lied to me I made the payment like she said I told Jeraka agent # DDP793 what I was suppose to tell him put me on the hard ship program after our call I thought everything was set up right ( no payment until oct ) to my surprise they raised my interest rate to 28.15 and has charged me late fees over the limit fees when I called to let them no what happened they said there was no documentation. and they never let people go 2 months without making a payment. It comes down to I still can not make the payment on this card or on the other 3 cards I have I do not use the cards I tried to tell the credit card companies before that I was having trouble and to please work with me so I could keep the good credit we have worked 20 years for but I have not got any where I have went through many sleepless nights and its not because I'm not tired. |

noted in my previous post to you that the $207 I paid them (on our $2400
balance) was $50 OVER the minimum payment, but with the interest charges
we STILL got hit with the over limit fee. This is OBVIOUSLY abusive on
the part of
CapitalOne
, as not only did I pay the minimum, but I paid
about 25% MORE than the minimum. I am in touch with the attorney and
encourage all of you out there to get in touch with him as well, at
least those of you in California. Although he does take 1/3 of the
proceeds, he has to pay for ALL OVERHEAD, and unless he wins, he doesn't
get any fee at all, so he is taking all the risk. Plus, if you are
chosen as a representative, the court will award you representative fees
which are usually $3000-$5000. And he may be able to score injunctive
relief for some of you, such as getting

constantly hits us with $39 fees. Last month, we
were hit with a $59 membership fee, which
brought us overlimit, and they charged an
additional $39 fee. I called to complain
about the overlimit fee and the associate on the phone said, "We will
send you a letter as to our decision within 10 business days". Letter
has never been received and we were never issued a credit for the $39.
So, last month, I wrote a check for $207 against our $2400 balance,
thinking this would bring it over limit and we would never need to pay
another fee. Lo and behold, I open up this month's bill to see that with
finance charges, despite the fact that I PAID MORE THAN THE MINIMUM
PAYMENT BY $50 (the minimum was high due to the $39 and $59 charges), WE
WERE HIT WITH ANOTHER OVER LIMIT FEE for $39.
This time, they truly have gone too far. I submitted a complaint to
the Governor's Board of the Federal Reserve
and signed up with the attorney who is suing credit card companies for
over limit fees imposed due to membership fees. I plan to call them
tonight and they had better credit us $78 - if not, there will be hell
to pay. I plan to sue in small claims court just to get this over and

Credit Cards one for a $200.00, $300.00, & $500.00 limit. Paid all
credit cards on line same time,
CapitalOne
stated that never received the payment for the $300 & $ $500.00 limit.
Charge a membership fee, so that took me over my limit on the (2) cards,
and then started charging over limit fees and late fees were assessed to
my credit cards. Hadn't used any of the credit cards in over 5+ years,
they wouldn't close out account unless paid in full. Only had charged
over 5+ yrs ago $225 n the $300 & 300 n the $ 500.00 limit. They sold
thoose two debt to another company. And they are trying to charge me
$914 on the $300 limit and $1,320 for the $500 credit card with know
charges to account.

charges on my card for this anyway and when I refused to pay they hit me

. in 2002. I signed up for the protection
plan were I would be protected if anything happen I would be able to pay
the min. and would not be charged outrageous interest fees. Before
I was paying them on time and more than what I had to pay. I could pay
$15(the Min) and would not be in default. When I had to go on bed rest
and could only pay the min. they add late charges over the limit
charges because they had add the late charges that made it over the
limit. When I asked about the protection
plan they said that they did not have a such thing. I told them
that i wanted to cancel my card and they put me through hell. It
end up going on my credit and the charges was still being added.
My limit was only $200 and know it is over $1200 dollars.
I can not get anything and they want me to pay all of those charges.
I think that is crazy and I should not have to pay ten times my limit.
I am trying to get a house and establish my credit and can not do
anything. I am not making enough money to go on a payment plan but
I can give them $300 that i have saved up to pay this off and they take
this off all three credit bureas

Watch out for two cruxes: 1.In some area, u only allowed to sue the credit card issue within 1 year, so CapitalOne .always do everything to stall u from suing them in the first year, usually they will give u 2 more of their No Hassle Cash Rewards CapitalOne .card. (And they will tell u the next card is better than the first card, which is of course NOT! Your interest rate will go up to highest after your next late charge and over limit charges.) 2. When u finally save enough money to mail them the check to pay off the amount (usually it's $3,000 if u received 3 of their $300 credit limit NoHassleCash SM RewardsCard) and tell CapitalOne .that u want to pay off and cancel your cards, YES! Your final payment is not only going to be late again, CapitalOne .will hide your payment and pretend that they never receive the check, CapitalOne's so called Customer Services will insist that u need to go to your own bank and buy a photo copy of the check and mail it to them to prove that u did mail out and they did cash the check, the photo copy of the check usually take 2 to 3 months to buy and mail and for CapitalOne .to finally admit that they received and cashed it, and of course, it will be another 2 or 3 months late charges already! . I had originally gotten it to start
establishing my credit. I am an extremely responsible
credit/banker, and was shocked (after making a $600.00 payment), to find
that my card had declined at a drs. appt. while making a co-pay.
When my husband and I got home and on our computers we looked to find
that our recent online statement said that my current limit was $500.00
and my current balance was $0.00. We immediately called
CapitalOne
, and they never gave us a straight answer as to
if it was a computer or human error, and we are forced to pay $55.00,
after last month having just have paying $600.00. They said it was
their mistake, and they were sending us something in the mail......tell
me is this wrong? Or am I just overly upset Lindsey, CapitalOne is the only credit card spending millions money to promote their card, their TV commercials is costly and whoever fall for their PRE-APPROVE card shall pay at least $1,000 over each account. It's always new kids with no credit will be trapped into CapitalOne 's blood sucking quick sand river. CapitalOne always give new blood $300 credit limit, so they can start to press $69 over-limit charges as soon as possible. (Late charge is sure shot, Doesn't matter how or when u sent your payment, their customer services (which is set up in India) will tell u that they post the payment at 5 pm, but your payment arrival at 5:03 pm. When u complained, they will give u second $300 credit limit card so they get to suck your blood double. Most of card holder end up with over $3,000 over THREE of their $300 credit limit cards, and they didn't know to sue CapitalOne within the first year. then they got the problem of suing and get out of CapitalOne vampirism since those credit issues only allow one year period to sue in some area. Everybody can see the mistake : Some guy shouldn't give u the credit limit over $300 in the beginning. If they can't charge u up to $1,000, they consider losing money on your account!. CapitalOne got problem on trapping the suitable new blood victims now, the way they promote their CapitalOne card, I see their TV commercials is focus on young kids who will hurt their brains when they try to figure out what kind of no-hassle rewards CapitalOne card is that?! application. The card just appeared in the mail. I am now 26
years old. The card had a $200 dollar limit on it. I have
tried contacting them by email, telephone asking about their collections
departments. I have received no information or help. I do not have
the card anymore so I do not remember the account numbers.

will not give me any information so that
even if I wanted to pay, I can't. I am currently in the military in an
undisclosed location. Which does not help me much when I cannot
just pickup the phone and call. Mail takes months to come and go,

time and in excess of the minimum payment. as of my last statement my
available balance was 1713. i wrote a conveince check for 1500 to pay
off other credit cards. the check for 1500 was deposited into my account
on 03/07/2007. at that time the funds were available. my wife mailed a
check to the other card company on the 03/09/2007. after learning of the
mistake, i called

and explained the situation and told them i was
sending the money immediately on line to try to avoid any overlimit
fees. the operator said everything should be fine and would make a note
on my account. now on the 14th i was paying bills and noticed a 1500
returned check on my bank account which caused my person bank account to
be over drawn. after talking with the first representative she said that
was not right and transferred me to a customer service representative.
she told me that on 3/9 that a team reviewed my account and decided to
lower my credit limit by 1500 dollars. she stated the check took 3days
to get to them and that it came in after the limit was lowered. she said
they review credit periodically to come to this decision. also that my
payment posted on the 14th but the second check posted also on the 14th
(after only two days this time), but the check was posted in the morning
and my payment was not calculated in until the end of day business was
processed. she stated that this was just what was done and i should
review my credit report. i then explain i just closed an 185000 loan
where my score was 750. she then said they relly don't go be the score
but by total revolving accounts. i asked her when they were planning on
notifying me of the decrease, since they were the ones that sent me them
conv. check with my last statement telling me to use the check that i
had the available credit to transfer other accounts or "just use it for
a vacation ". she said they did contact me. "they sent a letter out on
the 9th". a week later and i still have not received this letter. it
sure was convienent tha Peter, their so-called "Customer Service" is in India. If u ask them to correct your record, they will tell u that they have no 'direct access' on 'Local Office', the 'Local office' will get their note in 3 to 5 days. When they tell u that u be fine, which mean u will get 3 to 5 more days of late charges. Don't waste your time try to fix stuffs. Sue the Vampire before they suck your blood dried! |

I have been trying for months to get them to post a promotional 12 month, no payment, no interest, which CapitalOne , not Lowe's (they did it correctly on charge slip) posted as a regular charge. I say BS, it takes a nano second to put a charge on, but it takes 90 days to fix a problem that CapitalOne is solely responsible for screwing up. I was told it was "company policy". Unfortunately, now they have reported me to the credit bureaus, which is illegal, if I am disputing a charge. I do not have to pay, nor are they allowed to report to the credit bureau while an amount is in dispute. By the way, my credit rating was 843, now these scum suckers are screwing that up. Of course, if will take them 90 days to get it to the credit bureau, and another 90 for the credit bureau to erase. In the meantime, they make me look like a deadbeat. I am so p.o. at them, I spoke to CapitalOne yesterday 12/4/06 and the rep. tried to tell me my Promo was for interest only, BS, I said again to him, get Lowe's on the phone, he got the mgr. on and the Lowe's Mgr. said Lowe's Promos for the last TWO YEARS have been 0 interest 0 payment for 12 months. I then said (with Lowe's on phone) didn't you try to help me with CapitalOne and they refused to speak with you, and didn't your associate Kim call on my behalf and CapitalOne refused to speak, and didn't I contact Lowe's Home Office who wrote CapitalOne and called and got nowhere with CapitalOne ? He answered I was correct, the CapitalOne Rep couldn't wait for that conversation to end. I was then put on hold, Rep came back and told me Lowe's entered Promo wrong, again, I said BS, I purchased several appliance over a year(also had problems, every Promo I had went in as too reg. charge) and I have such a paper trail with these scum bags, I know I would win in court, they are completely wrong, have lied to me, and have illegally reported me to the credit bureau while this is in dispute. My stomach goes into knots when I receive my billing. My July-Aug billing I received finance charges of $123.73, August-September billing credited my account $123.73. Sept.-Oct. billing finance charge $13.80, past due fee $35.00. Oct.-Nov. billing credited back $13.80, $35.00, but now has charged me another $35.00 and $14.30, is threatening to suspend my account and demands payment of $89.00. Cons: Terrible attitude toward cardholders After reading some of the horror stories about CapitalOne, I just wanted to give an inside view. I worked for Capital 1 for over 2 years as a sales trainer. I have some insight and some advice. Insight: In 1998, 80% of their profit came from fees. Not interest, just fees. Late, overlimit, and membership. Advice: If you are charged a fee, regardless of what type, and you feel it is incorrect- call and speak to a supervisor/manager. Overlimit fees will always be waived. If your payment is 3 days or less that will always be waived also. If it's past three days, still call and speak to a manager/supervisor, they will waive it as well. APR can be lowered by request. Basically, associates are only able to do so much, so don't waste your time...speak directly to a manager. When speaking to a manager mention contacting the Better Business Bureau, State attorney general or the news media. If you still do not get satisfaction, speak to their manager and so forth. Needless to say, I no longer work for the company. I found it difficult to justify how the company conducted their business and just didn't feel good teaching employees how to rip off our customers. Oh yeah, check those statements good. Lots of things just happen to appear by mistake. Don't believe that one either. So take it from someone who was on the inside... |

I called them in August (11) to have this account closed, but it has yet to happen. At that time I spoke to 3 representatives and 1 supervisor who assured me that if no charges where made within that 30 day period the account would be closed. I asked if they would send something in writing showing that I closed the account. One week later I received a letter from CapitalOne informing me that I had a zero balance, but nothing stating that the account had been closed. I decided to check the card today and sure enough the account is still opened, but this time with a $39.00 annual fee. I called and spoke with "Jennifer" and another rep. who (again) assured me that they too would make sure the account was closed and remove the $39.00 annual fee. Jennifer did explain that she saw where I'd requested in August for the account to be closed, but wasn't sure why it was still opened (It's now October). I told her to close the account, but this time I will be sending a certified letter with the card (cut in half) requesting the cancellation. Not only does CapitalOne hender customers by not reporting the credit limit, but they also try and trap you with unnecessary fees. The card (minus the bogus $39.00 membership fee) is at a zero balance. As soon as this card is cleared I will never consider getting another one of their cards again. They are nothing, but a rip off! |

When I called CapitalOne to advise them that I needed a new card, they took it upon themselves to open up additional credit. When I received the card, I thought it was for the credit that I already had, because I did not know the credit card number. When the bills would come in, I would pay one of the credit cards thinking that I was paying my bill. I later found out that I had 2 separate cards from them and by this time they were constantly harassing me and sending information for me to open up additional credit cards. This is the worst company that I have ever encountered. I tried to tell them that I should have only had one account with them and they continued to tell me that there were 2 accts. and it was my responsibility to pay them off. Something needs to be done about the way CapitalOne does business. |

that portion of my payment and now since my house
burned down I don't have much documentation. I have also defaulted on my
card and they are sueing me. My card was payed off last April then my son
borrowed it for a trip. He ran it up to 290. and was supposed to pay it off,
they added a yearly fee that month which put it over the 300. limit and
charged me 29. over the limit fee. Now one year later they say I owe them
over $700. Rebecca, whatever they do, they just need to do one thing, collect at least $1,000 from u or else they r losing money on your account because it cost them $1,000 to get a new blood like u! Sue the Vampire!! |

When I requested them to reduce my rate they refused very rudely and I told them to close my account. The customer service rep stated that it was in pending closed status until my balance was zero for one full billing cycle. I spoke to this reps :supervisor: who refused to help me. I told her to leave my account open, I would spend my reward miles pay off my balance then close my account. this rep informed me i had lost my miles by requesting my account to be closed. No one ever told me that would happen. They refused to return my miles although my account is still open and I can still charge on it. So they refused to close it, took my miles and would not reduce my rate. And to top it off, I told this supervisor -Kim- I wanted to speak to her supervisor and she told me there was no one above her. Hummm, she wasn't the president who by the way will not speak to customers. She also told me I would have a phone call from someone in 24-48 hours after I demanded someone else call me back. It has been four days and no phone call. Their email customer service told me I would need to handle this over the phone. Well I cannot get any help any where. |

The garnishment of my pay could have been avoided.
CapitalOne
was negligent in issuing this credit card based on flimsy personal
information submitted by the thief. The thief only had to provide my DOB and
SSN.
CapitalOne
was negligent in their failure to conduct a proper investigation of the ID
theft. When I contacted
CapitalOne
and made them aware of the ID theft they should have immediately initiated
an investigation and that is according to
CapitalOne’s
own website (http://www.capitalone.com/credit101/fraud/victiminfo.shtml).
Instead
CapitalOne
garnished my pay.
CapitalOne
attacked me and refused to tell me what kind of information I could provide
in order to assist in the investigation. I was forced
to try to resolve this issue without the help of
CapitalOne.
Both
CapitalOne’s
fraud operations and collections departments ignored my request for
information and assistance. They ignored the evidence I submitted proving I
was not in Detroit, Michigan during this time. Every certified letter I sent
CapitalOne
was ignored.
CapitalOne
made a mistake and refused to correct or acknowledge their mistake.
CapitalOne
refused to acknowledge the fact they extended credit to someone pretending
to be me.
CapitalOne
chose to ignore the ID theft affidavit I submitted.
CapitalOne
chose to ignore my request for copies of account documents.
CapitalOne
chose not to take a report or initiate an investigation into my ID theft
claim. In
CapitalOne’s
zeal to increase the number of card holders,
CapitalOne
failed to properly verify the personal information being submitted and
failed to request enough personal information in order to sufficiently
verify identity.
CapitalOne
chose to ignore my request to remove my name from this account and from the
judgment until finally a ruling was issued in my favor by the 36th District
Court. I was prepared to present a mountain of evidence to prove my case,
but the lawyer for
CapitalOne
agreed the card was the result of ID theft before the trial began. The
lawyer was dead set against me receiving anything other than the money
CapitalOne
fraudulently garnished from my pay, but the judge thought otherwise and
awarded me the out of pocket expenses.
I believe the turn around by
CapitalOne
was due to my complaint filed with the FRB. I would suggest others use them
to file complaints against
CapitalOne. |

I applied for a printer lease and ws turned down and that prompted me to check my credit report. I then found a "charge off" that ws not mine. So....I filed disputes through the credit bureaus. I never got any results so I filed again. Little did I know that each time I filed, that was causing my credit score to drop. I had 697 at the end of May and three months later, had 635 and the last time I checked it was below 600. I have five creditors and have NEVER been late. I have paid anywhere between $200 to $400 per month to each one but tring to fix my credit has made it worse. I also had about 8 inquiries on my file until I started trying to fix it and now I have 64. They are mine but I have no way to prove it and the more I try the further my score drops. They tried to get me to buy "identify theft" stff, credit monitoring and all that stuff and when I refused, all this other stuff, bad accounts and a zillion inquires showed up on my report. So...as my last resort, I have sent my file to the FTC in Washington DC, hoping that I can force the credit bureaus to fix my file back. My score should be about 750 - 800. I have proof of every payment made. I have printed off every statement of my CapitalOne MC, Household bank MC, Dell, GE and Visa. The cc companies have not cheated me. It is the credit bureaus that are placing info that is not mine because I would not pay them to monitor my credit. |

A recent change in redemption policy reduced the cash
value of my accumulated miles by 1/2. Thus turning the ~70,000 miles I had (worth ~$700) into a value of only ~$350. Notice, if actually sent, was not obvious enough amongst all the other mailings from CapitalOne. to catch my eye and make me aware of the need for action on my part to protect the value of my miles. Customer service was not inclined to help in any meaningful way. Dan, the Customer Services is mean to charge u more fees and add your late fees 2 more days because "the local office is not IN, but your claim will be sent". no end, they finally sued us for over 1200.00 for each
of the 3 cards we had, when we only had balances of 600.00 or so on each

idea why there is no statement. I have asked them to fix the problem, using
calls to customer service and a letter enclosed with a payment i sent in a
regular envelope because of the lack of a statement. They keep on
charging me late fees no matter what I do. I try to
pay by phone to get it in on time and they want $10.00 to make a
payment by phone. Now my account is overlimit adding
new fees, and I have no idea why this is happening because I dont have any

account charged off and a judgment in 36th District Court in Detroit,
Michigan issued on Dec 2004. I don’t live in Detroit now or during the time
this card was opened. The card was issued in March 2002. I contacted the
credit bureaus to remove the fraudulent information and they refuse. I
contacted CapitalOne
(1800 955-7070/ 1800 239-7054/ 1800 258-9319) to inform them of the ID
theft. I was unable to resolve over the phone. I was transferred to various
departments and they hung up on me several times, but I kept calling back. I
called their collection agent (the law office of Mary Jane Elliott 248
306-2000); I request to supply evidence proving debt is not mine. Agent
refuses to state what evidence is needed because they could not give me
legal advice and they also hung up on me. On 28 Sep 2005, I called the Detroit police (313 596-5900). I was told to file a report where I reside. I filed a police report locally (05-24222) (440 871-3311). I placed a 90-day alert on my credit report and filed a complaint with FTC (ref#6832758). On 30 Sep 2005, I mailed certified letter with receipt to CapitalOne Fraud Operations and one to CapitalOne Collections, notifying them of the ID theft along with ID theft affidavit, state driver’s license, proof of residency during the ID theft. On 5 Oct 2005, I received email notification of garnishment from Celia Vazquez (216 204-1698) garnishment will begin on 7 Oct 2005. I called the 36th District Court, Detroit, MI (313 965-6144) for paperwork to dispute the garnishment. On 13 Oct 2005, I filed a complaint with the Michigan State Attorney General Office (AG# 200515038). On 25 Oct 2005, I filed a complaint with Comptroller of the currency Administrator of National Banks (www.occ.treas.gov/customer.htm I believed I’ve contacted the appropriate organizations, but I still haven’t received a solution yet, meanwhile I lost $500 from my last paycheck for a debt I never created. The garnishment is supposed to run through Dec 2005. What else can I do? I haven’t heard back from 36th District Court, but I’m looking forward to my day in court. |

The first card was secured and after three years of good payments I requested that my security deposit be refunded-they refused however they gave me a higher limit unsecured card-clearly I was a good standing customer so why did they keep my deposit? I canceled the secured card asking to use my 250.00 deposit in the account which was 300.00-they refused stating that I had to pay the card in full then they would refund the security deposit-is that legal? Anyway I made the minimum payment and they claimed that they got it late charging me a late fee which put me overlimit. I agreed to pay the 300.00 but refused to pay the late and overlimit fees. Ultimately they accumulated fees bringing my account to 750.00 put it in collection at that amount and never even deducted or accounted for the funds that they still have for security. Now I have this current card with them again good standing for years and suddenly I sign up for online payments. I get the next bill in the mail stating that I was late then overlimit because the E-check didn't clear I call my bank manager who called them to say that they never even tried to put through a check online and that I had plenty of money to cover it-they refused to remove the fees and disregarded everything the bank manger explained to them. HELP before the same thing happens again where can I go to take care of this is there a commission??? |

back in june to report 2 credit cards missing, later found i had misplaced
them, but they were cancelled, and was told i would get new ones in about 14
days. I was told they came back to them, because i had given them my street
address ,and not my mailing address, I informed them that having an account
with them as long as i had they new my mailing address by looking on my
file. I ask them to just send my statements so i could send my payment on
time i made approx 5 calls asking for my statements, ok my payment is due on
the 19th of each month, and my statement was received on the 20th with a
35.00,dollar charge on one of them, and 29.00 dollars on the other. I
informed them i didn't owe a late charge because they failed to send out my
statements, so I received my statement for one of my cards for the month of
aug.,so i called about the other one, and was told they would send another
one even though they said they had already sent it. I deducted the late
charge from the statement i did get, and sent it on out. I waited for the
other statement, but it never came, so i called again, and was told it came
back to them even though the correct address was on it.I ask what they
expected me to do, that i did not plan to just mail them a money order
without a statement or an account # to post on it, I ask for the account
#.and was told they could not give me that info., so i ask for the last 4
digits,& was given that. I had no idea what amt to send, so i sent a payment
of 50.00 dollars,when i told them i wasn't going to pay the late charges i
was told they would add more if i didn't. I have had nothing but problem
with capital since june when i called about the cards. I was searching the
web tonight ,and found a # to call, the lady was very nice and listened
while i explained what had happened the last 3 months.I was told by this
lady that she could straightened this mess out for me & was sorry for the
rudeness these people had shown me.I trust that she will. I certainly don't
think i will ever feel secure with CapitalOne.

Cross Country bank.
Although my credit report is somewhat accurate it is still a hassle. It has
been about 5 years since this has happened to me. I also requested my
account to be closed so as that i would not receive the overlimit and late
charges, of course this never happened. Now i think about it they did settle
wit me but a few weeks after they received my payment I received an
arbitration letter in the mail. I see why now. They r nothing but a bunch of
dirty bitches!! Also I would like a copy of the list of people that are
already taking action on this so maybe i can send it to
the credit bureaus and
get this straightened out. It says you need my evidence to assure you that
im real. Since the happened several years ago I have no hard evidence except
what shows on my report. Basically its my word against theirs. Also its from
my understanding that if you offer them payment and you have evident of this
letters or recordings. If they deny you all you have to do is send it to
the credit bureaus
and they will delete them from your file. matt, in some area, u can NOT sue the vampire for the over-1-year-old-credit-issue. Pay the most attention to your next month statement' find out the date they cashed your payment from your bank records and if CapitalOne still post it as LATE, and sue them for the current matter. U can always learn how to fight after u view our webs and find the witness with same experience from CapitalOne . What's happening to all the victims is, when u send CapitalOne the whole payment to close your CapitalOne , CapitalOne ALWAYS hide your payment and pretend that they never receive it ! And CapitalOne will insist that u spend $10 to buy the photo copy of your own bank checking account to prove that your check does go throu, it usually take more than 2 months, then after u do the whole document procedures, CapitalOne will credit back the amount that u finally prove u sent, but they will be more of fees and charges here and there, and u never get close your 24 hours CapitalOne nightmare, that's happening to u?! on me after giving me incorrect legal advise. He hung
up when I informed him he was mistaken. When I called to complain to the
supervisor they were unable to track the employee even though I had his
name. I called several times and only twice spoke to someone in the US.
The people in India did not have access to account data.
This was an easy matter to handle. I'm not sure I
trust them with my account.
What would happen if I really needed their assistance? They have to take at least 100 phone calls from victims each day), u shall see what's happening to CapitalOne and u! Contact CapitalOne and ask them to correct the error immediately! CapitalOne have their so called " CapitalOne Services" office set up in other English speaking countries, (India?! Surprised??) It's cheaper there, and u will always have SERVICE especially when u r mad and calling in the nighttime. They may tell u "The local office is closed, your case will be transferred tomorrow". Remember their salary is based on how much charges and fees they can make u pay, and by "transferred tomorrow" meaning your case will be 2 or 3 days more postponed, Why? more late charges of course. Contact and double check 3 major credit agency to make sure that CapitalOne have correct the error! I told them to cancel my credit card because it seemed like I would never be able to pay it off if it continued to remain open. So when I cancelled my card my balance was $466.71 and I was like cool, I can handle paying this off. So I waited to get my refund check from school and would pay off the entire $466.71, however the balance now was $984.96!!! What is really going on?!?! They called me and told me I need to resolve this matter and I told them that I would pay the $466 but I would NOT pay the $984. That is ridiculous and I am NOT paying for something that they should have closed. Now on my Credit Report it has Charge Off in the amount of $314 but then states I have a past due amount also. I am completely confused and will not pay them until they can send me some kind of documentation in the mail which shows how they added almost $500.00 in charges.

Two months pass and I've received no paper statement and I get a call from their collections, threatening to report this to the credit bureau if I don't pay within 2-weeks....oh and my initial APR of 8.9% is now 26% AND i've been assessed $105.00 in late fees. I'm livid and I've been a GOOD customer....but, no breaks and now the harassment begins. I would never intentionally STOP my paper billing. I paid on line to avoid late fees and this has happened to me. Oh, and the 'collector' couldn't tell me why I wasn't getting my bills, only that it wasn't CapitalOne's responsibility. I had to find this out from another customer service person, a supervisor who would do nothing, make no arrangement re: the late fees or the APR until they get their money.Wen, it's a card with credit limit only $200 (but they told u that your credit limit could be upto over $150,000 dollars in the letter?! YEA RIGHT!! They a;so told u that u would get a piece of private island too!! and CapitalOne don't even call their card "Credit Card" anymore, they call it "NO-HASSLE-REWARDS"!!) What money can CapitalOne able to make from u? Doesn't really bother CapitalOne, everybody is watching 's TV commercials everyday, receiving 's "pre-approved" invitation letter every week. It was sent. then on top of that a purchase check in my name for $200.00 dollars. what was I suppose to do with a purchase check in my name? go spend it at Macys? On top of that , they said it was a gift. Nothing for free in this world today. I took it to my bank just to see what was up with this odd check and deposited in my account since that was the only thing I could do. my bank said they had no record of my depositing any sort of check from capital. for 3 months they refused to admit they had seen any sort of check. I found out three months later with some help that it was sent back to capital one. Wells fargo do not accept purchase checks. They finally found this odd check . took $200.00 out of my account. which they never even put the check into my account. and CapitalOne charged me the same day that check was deposited into my account $200.00 to my card. after almost a year. CapitalOne said it was in their hands. I asked for a copy of the check which I do have. CapitalOne closed my account. I thought that was finished. NOPE. they sent me another card . I called and said I did not ask for another card. They tried to tell me it was a total different account , don't worry everything has been taken care of with the other. I refused to open the card. told them> NO I will not open this . CANCEL this card. I then got a statement the next month, And there was a $200.00 dollar charge on it. Since then I have secured employment but have gotten so far behind the account charged off. They are charging me 15.9% on a written-off amount. I know for a fact because I pulled my own credit report. I also asked for a settlement quote around mid jan/05 and Amanda gave me a quote of approx 75% of the balance, this equaled around $1K month for 6 months, I told her that was way too unrealistic. That was this past Jan/05. Well in March/05, she called again and tried to settle with me for 85% of the balance. I asked her to explain and she assured me that that was the best deal she could offer me. I wasn't able to do that either because she jacked us the settlement amount. I also asked to speak to a manager (I knew she was lying to me), she of course refused. Then I also asked why am I being charged 15.9% finance charge on a written off amount. And you know what she did? She laughed right in my ear. What professionalism and highly credible PR. I also have an MBNA account and that was running into charge-off. I called and explained my situation and they immediately agreed to settle for 25% of the balance in writing in which I am currently paying them off. I am also going to make a web site similar to yours, plus I have all documentation, 2 letters of charge offs and the amounts they jacked on there for interest, the settlement letter from MBNA. Plus even though I believe its not right to record conversations, I recorded the entire conversation, disagreeable settlements, not letting me talk to her supervisor and her laughing at me. I know I should have paid these off and this is partially my fault for not paying my debt but at this point I absolutely refuse to pay them $1000 in fees (and that's just one of the cards!!!) Unfortunately this has caused a significant burden on my credit report - I want to make amends with what I owe - but am not at liberty to pay them this much in fees. Also how can they continue to charge $60/month in an account that they supposedly charged off two years ago? This doesn't make sense!! What should I do? Desperately in need of some guidenance....
Tabitha , Small Claims Court won't cost u any attorney fee to sue CapitalOne, but u only allow to use the court TWICE a year! (Yep! even u have 4 issues!!) U r not allowed to claim for more than $5,000. CapitalOne always give up to hire a lawman to appear for your lawsuit, BUT, if u claim for more than the lawman's cost, of course the bank will pay the lawman and face the court. The check amount should have been $104.00 which is clearly written on the check and not $160.00. The credited the $160 to the wrong account which now has an overage. Why the credit limit so low? because CapitalOne want to charge u over-limit fees everytime u use it. First they gave me a certain credit limit and said that my interest rate wouldn't be that high, then out of the blue they lowered my credit limit and upped my interest rate. So I went from paying a minimal balance of $20 a month to now having to pay $300 a month. No matter how much I pay I am always getting the run around. I received a letter from them stating that: We are concerned because your CapitalOne account is still passed due, and your credit rating is at risk. If you are having difficulties and cannot pay the amount due, please call us. Our associates are polite, friendly and skilled at helping valued customers in difficult situations. They can create a payment option that fits your particular needs. YEAH RIGHT!!! I try calling and again get the run around. You never get a straight answer with these people. I called when they changed my credit limit to see why they had done that. I was paying my bill on time every month. As a matter of fact it was taken out of my checking account. So how in he hell could I get charged late fees if is was automatically deducted from my checking account through Check by phone. I had to open a new check account because I was not going to pay them until I got some answers. No they say I owe $5,000. I say got to H***. Is the only way to sue them is to go to small claims court? If so do I need a lawyer? I am not sure what to do, but they need to be stopped. I will do what I need to do. If I when in small claims court do they fix the negative credit problems they have caused. Please let me know. Thank you. |

When I called to complain they said, " we sent something along with your paper statement" I had told a rep with them months earlier that I never receive much less read the statements because I pay online for faster turn-around time. When I asked why my rate was raised I was sent to a manager, followed by another and another. The 5th person I talked to told me, " If you would have canceled your card when we sent the notice then you would still have a 9.9% apr. But because you didn't its now 15.9% !!!. I canceled my card as soon as she said this, but my new rate is 15.9% for no reason other than GREED. Again, I NEVER MISSED A PAYMENT AND NEVER EVEN PAID CLOSE TO THE MINIMUM. I am now trying to pay my card off ASAP because a 6% difference when you have a 6,000 credit is quite a bit. I also found it a little odd that this only happened after I quit using the card at all. I was using the card for gas, food, ect. and paying all that off every month + 200-300, but when I just started paying 200-300 and wasn't putting anything else on this happens. PS. I have had this card for 6 years now. This is how CapitalOne treats their customers regardless of weather you are new or long standing. Carl |

CapitalOne
dept was on the report as a charged off account
for the amount of $1,241.00 on a $300.00 limit card. I
had deactivated the card and paid it off in 2002, it is now 2005. I call
CapitalOne
and they have turned it over to a legal firm
which says they will settle for $800 if paid by the 13th January, 2005 or
they say they will proceed to court. I recontacted
CapitalOne
to ask more questions and when I pushed more about
having paid off the card and cancelled it in 2002 they told me that I had
paid off a card, but it was a Visa and the card that was turned over to the
lawyers was a Master Card. As far as I know the only card I ever had with
CapitalOne
was a Master Card. This brings me to the question who's Visa card was I
paying off instead of my Master Card. The said they were starting and
inquiry and I would be contacted in the next 24 to 48 hours. For some
reason, mainly some of the previous cases on the web site, I do not feel
they will find anything but to their own benefit.

For a mater of fact I never had a credit card in my life. I applied for

but never got one they said I didn't qualify. I called their customer
service center to sort every thing out they thought it was a joke. The first
person I talked to listen to me for about 30 seconds then hung up in my
face. It happened again when I called back. The third time I called back the
lady was nice but she said there was nothing she could do. I told
them to send me a written statement with my signature it still hasn't came.
One month 3 weeks later. I know for a fact there's something wrong because
they even had by birthday wrong. I was born august 31 19**. they put august
1 1913. I am only 2*.

protection is only for the wealthy these days. FICO knows 24 hours or less
when you miss a payment or max an account. They have more power over you and
your future than any existing political system. Try repairing your credit
while we still have some rights. Finally brought my FICO from 620 to 710 but
took 50 manhours + 7 months time. Just research how to do it but not with
any third party. Always dispute the entire negative account and leave it at
that since admitting any part means verification. Try too many times and you
are blocked from repairing. Always have a reason or more documentation when
you dispute and its all good. Dispute over the holidays and be surprised how
few can respond to the 30 day requirement. Document everything. Yes sue them and share the stories. Worked for me when CapitalOne caused a chain of bad date and fees by improperly freezing my account. My husband and I tried to pay a balance off. He paid the whole
balance off over the phone. The next month we received a bill for a 10.00
service fee and a 5.00 due on the 10th of November. I
sent the payment on the 6th of November when I received the bill. I
received ANOTHER BILL, for the 15.00 and an additional LATE fee of 30.00. ON
November 18. Oh, and some TRANSACTION fees!!??? I
called and could not get an operator....so I searched the web for numbers so
I could talk to a HUMAN! I had to call several numbers before I tricked the
automated system into giving me a LIVE person. They would not talk to me
because I was not the primary card holder my husband was...he had called
them several times to authorize me during the time we had the card. He works
for weeks away from home. So, at 1:30 a.m. After picking the poor man up
from his work he had to call them... He was furious because he had THOUGHT
he paid them off when he paid them off with an over the phone check. Anyways
our NEW BALANCE was a total of $44. 97 . My
husband told him he wanted to pay it off and for them to include the $10.00
service charge so it would be done and over with. The rep told him that he
only had to pay $44.83 to close the account out. We asked over and over why
our statement said our balance was $44.97 and we were only paying $44.83 to
close and if the So called service fee was included. The rep (sounded like
he was from India)
assured us it was only $44.83. We would not get another bill EVER, NO MORE
CHARGES OR NOTHING! My husband and I told the rep we wanted to pay the New
Balance of $44 .97 and $10.00 Just to make sure. He wouldn't let us. He said
that would create a negative balance and the account would stay open. I
SWEAR if we get a bill next month...I will drive down the
CapitalOne
headquarters! Kris, CapitalOne won't let u out easy! NO MORE CHARGES OR NOTHING??! ur payment always be late and u think it's ur fault? their over limit fee is $39 and u don't know why they never increase ur credit limit ($300? u be surprised to learn that lots of new blood got the card with credit limit $200!) they need to make at least $1,000 on each account. Don't waste ur time try to deal with CapitalOne Services. CapitalOne set up their reps in outside country of USA!! and u r right! yes, most of their reps offices are at India! I closed my account on March of 2004, after sending a
payment in full to pay the whole balance. The following month I
received the statement showing the balance in zero, meaning the account was
supposed to be finally closed, but it wasn't, time when all headaches
started. The following month I received a
statement with the $59.00 "ANNUAL MEMBERSHIP FEE" and
I called to have this fee credit back. Apparently I called after the
statement closing date, which consequently added a $29.00 late fee, that I
had to call on a second time to have reversed, but it didn't stop there.
Two months later I received another statement with their precious
"PRIVACY GUARD" accompanied by their $59.95 fee, which
by the way I canceled the year before, because I requested my credit report
two times and nothing was sent to me. Then I called them the third time to
have this fee reversed and was told by the representative that the fee was
going to be reversed and the account was going to be finally closed, but one
more time it didn't happen. The next month I received a statement
showing a partial credit for the fee with an interesting addition of a
$29.00 late fee. One more time I called them to have
this charges reversed, but as usual they only did half of it, crediting back
only the $29.00 fee. The following month the same story was repeated with
the $29.00 late fee because there was still a balance of $5.00 in the
account form the privacy guard. At this time according to them I was late on
my payment from the previous month, reason why they decided to send to the
credit bureaus their notice that I was late for more than 30 days, oh! but
hold on, didn't I paid in full the balance in March and requested to have
the account closed by then????. How can this financial institution send
false information to the credit bureaus, when none of all the charges that
were on there, were supposed to be there in the first place. I’ve never been
late on a payment of any kind having the blessing of good credit and now
it’s been threatened by their own. Isn't this illegal and
unlawful. Obviously we speak a different language because I don't know how
can many mistakes be done by different incompetent representatives. I called
them recently to see if they could finally solve this situation and I was
told that because of the complexity of my case, this problem was going to be
taken care of by another department and it should be solve, but should I
believe them after everything that has happened. The numerous calls I don't
mind, their stupid mistakes neither, but sending misleading information to
the credit bureaus its what scares me, because I worked very
hard as many people in this country to build good credit. If there's anyone
with any advice to what should I do please write back. I would gladly
appreciated. Alfredo, they don't make mistake, they are doing such and such (read through our web, u will see they r doing this to EVERYBODY! They have to do this to make living, basically it cost them $500 to get a new blood, they need to make at least $1,000 on each account to make their business grow. What they want is to confuse and stall you from suing them within 1 year. If u don't get to sue them within 1 year, ur veins r all theirs, debt u to death. |

I too like everyone else got stuck with the
over the limit fees, late fees, etc. I tried to work
with them, calling them, etc. to work out payment arrangements and they led
me to believe they would help me work this out. My money problem began with
serious family problems, etc. I would pay an outrageous amount for 3 months
with the hope of getting on some "payment arrangement". Well, that
payment arrangement was unspeakable. Meantime, the charges are still
mounting. I have turned this over to a debt settlement
company who has power of attorney, etc. They STILL call me at work,
I in turn report them to the debt settlement company. Business as they do it
should be criminal. Especially the way the economy and world is today,
someone who calls and tries to make it right continues to get
threatened and it will ruin your health and your life.
Please
include me in this lawsuit. Mary, class action lawsuit always too late to get the justice, only the lawyers getting the big money, and always make u lose the good chance to sue them yourself! Every time when the viewers telling me they find us from NEWS, I always ask the same question and never get the answer, but I still want to ask again. I have been responding to their advertising claiming lower interest rates, and balance transfers, with high credit limits, only to get approved for a very low credit limit. The result is I now have 4 CapitalOne accounts, one with a $6,800 limit with a high interest rate, which is maxed, and 3 smaller accounts with $300 or less limits. Now I am paying $15 to $30 on each of these lower limit cards combined with my $200 payment on the higher balance card totallying almost $300 a month. Also, having all these accounts damages my credit history, but they will not combine my cards to help me out. I am paying the cards minimum at least every month, but wasting my money paying so many accounts. Why won't they combine all 4 accounts into the higher account and lower my interest, and obviously helping my credit. |

Now CapitalOne still promo their Blood Sucking card as "private island" GIVE AWAY, "what r u going to do when u have ur own island"?! What's in ur wallet?! It drive me mad to watch this evil TV commercial everyday, over and over. They are spending tons of money proto this everyday! How many new blood they are getting from this kind of evil lies?! I still do not have all of them .it appears that in the last year they have charge me over a 100.00 in late fees and over 6000, 00 on credit cards with limits totaling 2500.00 dollars. they refuse to respond to written letters, and they are now telling me I have another account I know nothing about. they pretend to be helpful but give me absolutely nothing when and if I m able to make contact with them. should I pay an attorney to handle this or should I file, should I refuse to pay them. a this point it does not seem to make a difference. I am afraid to pay tem off because is suspect they will try to change the final payoff amount. what is best way to proceed? Complaining does no take care of the problem. these people are operating on the fringes of the law. how can they get away with this? |

thereafter, I wanted to re-establish my credit. I signed on w/CapitalOne.
The worst mistake I could have done. They will charge for every
little thing. Phone pay $14; Late Fee $29; over-the-limit Fee $29 and not to
mention the stupid and ridiculous membership fees that can cost up to $60++ per year. The customer service reps. have no consistency with the information that they are providing to their card holders. Finally, after 4 yrs., and rebuild my credit and maintaining good credit, I have obtain a Visa Card from my credit union and transferred all the outstanding balances from my CapitalOne visa to my credit union visa credit card. I have never dealt with a company who take full advantage of people regardless of the situation. This era in my life is now over; never to be repeated. Good Bye CapitalOne ; total rip off. |

home. I did not send it on the fourth I sent it when I got paid . There is
no grace period and instead of sending my fifteen dollar payment, I sent
forty so I only got credit for thirty of that forty because they
charged me a late fee of $29.00 for the bill being mailed three days later.
I thought I had a grace period but I guess not . Then last week I sent
another forty when it was not even due. No credit for that. Not yet at least
. So I had a $200.00 credit limit. When I pay
it off which should be not too long now I will never use that card again. I
never saw they charge $29.00 late fee until I read it over again and the
print was so fine I had to borrow the magnifying glass at work to read it ,
it certainly was not in bold print, if it was I would not have accepted such
an agreement. No Way. But just wait they will never get me again. When I pay
this bill off that will be it .NO
WAY WILL THEY TRICK ME AGAIN. THIS IS IT. Pauline, this is not it! It cost CapitalOne over $500 to get a new blood like u, they won't let u OUT until they make over $1,000 over your account. It is a DebtYouToDeath deal. late fee' over charge fee' whatever, u signed it! u gave them your social security number and all the info. If u don't sue CapitalOne within year or so, CapitalOne will post you bad credit report, and schedule to list your bad credit for 7 years! |
| 2004/10/20 07:44:17 / daphane g* / dgr*@email.vccs.edu / 804 *** **** / I had some of the same problems with my bill always being paid on time of course they would say that it wasn't and charged me all kinds of lat fees and then during the hurricane last year I was out sick and I call to notify them that I had been out for 2 weeks with the flu at first I qualified for them to make payments and then once I received the papers to file they told me I had to be out for 60 days so with all this my bill got behind my bill went from $200 to almost $500 each card they would not close the account they kept adding late fees on. |

First couple months they said that my checks were in late charging me late fees and let me fill up my tank if there is even $1 on the card so I get to pay $65 for a tank of gas. Anyways, now I have auto bill pay and they aren't even taking the $ out of my account and charging me late and overage charges because the money was supposed to be debited on the 15th so I use my card and they say that I used my card on the 15th or 16th and put me over, sorry if this doesn't make sense JUST DON'T GET CapitalOne !!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

Payments are usually late even if you mail it in 5 days earlier. I've talked with the postmaster, he stated that it will be delivered in 2 business days. Are they posting payments late to add on late charges? Some of their customer service rep. are so nasty and rude, I wrote a letter to CapitalOne president concerning this. I've also tried paying on line, but it always says my card number is incorrect. |

I had to pay them $27.61 to do so. It would seem that they chose my account to almost double the interest rate so they could "BE COMPETITIVE". How does raising rates " because other banks are raising rates" making you a better choice? The information above is what I was told when I called to ask about my account. Do note, I was never late on a payment( I have proof), and most months I made 2 payments well over the min payment due. When I was able to speak with a supervisor, I was told that I was contacted by mail, and for my rate to not go up, I should have stopped using my card in May 2004. I promptly told them I would clear the balance on the card, and promptly send them what was left of my card. .....Note to all... I do intend to send my comments, shredded card and all my card statements dating back to 05/2004 to Mr. Richard D Fairbanks( CEO ), as well as let him know he lost my account to a " COMPETITIVE LENDER OF MY CHOICE (WITH A GUARANTEED 5.9% RATE as long as I stay in good standing)". I thought I had THAT DEAL WITH CapitalOne . How thick is the "egg " on my face? |
